RULES
1. There is no entry fee for the competition. However, each band is required to sell a minimum of thirty-five (35) tickets to the show. These tickets will sell for an advance price of $4.00 each and the bands must turn this money in. (This is to cover some of the expenses involved in putting on the show like the cost of advertising, sound & lights etc...) The money from any additional tickets sold by the bands is theirs to keep. If they fail to sell the minimum number of tickets they will be required to pay the difference. On the nights of the shows, admission will be $7.00, so people have incentive to buy their tickets from the bands.
2. The tickets should be sold to people 21 & over only. Under 21 will not be allowed in to see the show.
3. Band members and any setup crew must be over 21 years as well.
4. Bands will have to play 3 nights in order to win
5. Bands will play once during the 1st round (Friday August 20, 2010 through September 24, 2010)
6. The top 2 bands from each night of the 1st round will come back to play again one night in the 2nd round (October 1, 2010 and October 8, 2010). They will be required to sell a minimum of 30 tickets for this show as well and turn in the money for them.
7. The top 3 bands from each night in the 2nd round will come back for the finals on October 15, 2010 for the final night. Each of the qualifying bands will be given 30 tickets each to give away or sell as they wish and will not have to turn in the money for them.
8. Bands may request the nights they would prefer to play, however the time slots are assigned by request of the bands in the order that they turn in their money.
9. Time slots ont he final night will be assigned by the contest organizers by random draw.
10. Bands must arrive at least one hour prior to their performance time.
11. Bands must provide a set list for the judges when they arrive.
12. Bands will play one 30 minute set per night consisting of their original music only. Their will be a 15 minute change over in between sets.
13. The bands that move on in the competition may repeat their songs from earlier rounds if they wish, or do different ones.
14. The judges will be chosen by Letchworth Pines. All decisions of the judges are final. Bands will be scored based on the quality of their material, the originality of the songs and the quality of the performance. Although we want the bands to bring a lot of people to the show, they will not be judged on how many people they bring or whose fans yell the loudest. The judging will be based solely on the bands performance.
15. Each band must submit a CD or a tape of all the songs they wish to perform throughout the contest or email their songs along with their entry form at least 7 days prior to the contest so the organizers can screen them for originality (i.e by Friday August 13, 2010) the submitted songs do not have to be studio quality and will not be judged at this point.
16. In the event that fewer than 20 entries are received, contest organizers reserve the right to cancel the contest or to reduce the prize money accordingly. They also reserve the right to change the number of bands that advance to the 2nd and final rounds. Any changes of this sort will be announced prior to the start of the contest. The competition will also be limited to a maximum of 42 bands.
17. All genres of music are acceptable with the exception of thrash metal or music that brings or intices slam dancing, mosh pits or other forms of violence.
18. The bands may not be signed by a major record label.
19. The bands must be all original (Music & Lyrics) and must not have been released by major record labels or recorded by other artists.
20. If a band is unable to perform as scheduled their position will be forfeited.
21. If a song performed by a band any time during the competition, is deemed not to be original, the band will be disqualified. This will apply even if the judges did not catch it in the pre-contest screening. Other contestants and members of the audience may protest any song that they do not think is original. This may be done at the sign in table. The contest organizers and judges will make a determination at their earliest convenience, but before the start of the next round. The decision of the judges and contest organizers will be final.
